DENSO customers were given a masterclass in endurance at the Silverstone WEC, as they were treated to a behind-the-scenes glimpse of race-day and unique insights from the Toyota Racing Team.
DENSO customers received VIP treatment at Silverstone during another exciting round of the World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Some of DENSO’s most-valued customers were invited to the home of British motorsports during one of the biggest days in the racing calendar – WEC’s Six Hours of Silverstone – to watch the DENSO-sponsored Toyota Gazoo Racing team battle its competitors on the track.
Guests were taken on a VIP tour of the Silverstone garage, giving a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse into the race-day environment, and a rare opportunity to watch drivers preparing for the race and a pit-stop up-close.
DENSO customers were then treated to a visit from former-F1 driver and Le Mans 24 Hours winner Alex Wurz, now part of the Toyota Gazoo Racing team, who talked about his experiences as a driver while offering his expert analysis of the WEC race.
Rob Leupen, the Managing Director of Toyota Sport was also present, offering his expert insight into the future of Hybrid technology, which has both DENSO and Toyota at the very forefront.
The race itself proved equally action-packed, as the DENSO-powered Toyota Gazoo Racing team and its two TS050 Hybrids continued the dominant form that has seen them top the WEC table since the start of the season. Unfortunately, the TGR vehicles were disqualified for faulty skid blocks but despite the setback it was a masterclass in endurance, as the DENSO-powered hybrid powertrain achieved a staggering 1:39.602 lap-time – the fastest of the race.
Powered by DENSO-developed rear hybrid motor, inverter and spark plugs, as well as oil and water coolers, the two Toyota TS050s put on a commanding performance, achieving a staggering 1:39.602 lap-time – the fastest of the race.
